Welcome to the Cyber Strategy Symposium 2026

Drawing on the interdisciplinary strengths of the Lancaster University cyber and data science community, and Lancaster’s relationship with key national security stakeholders and industry, the Lancaster University Cyber Strategy Symposium (LUCSS) is launching in 2026.

LUCSS is a flagship event for Lancaster University and a leading venue for discussion of cyber security policy in , national security and offensive cyber strategy (how do we use offensive cyber capabilities to achieve national security objectives).

 LUCSS has three core aims

  • to strengthen ties between Lancaster cyber security researchers and the national cyber policy and strategy community

  • to provide an annual national venue in the northwest for discussion of cyber policy and strategy as it pertains to (offensive) cyber security strategy

  • to provide a forum for emerging leaders to receive training, network, and to enhance their understanding of the UK cyber ecosystem and the international threat landscape on cyber security issues, including through simulations/wargames.

LUCSS is a week-long event comprising three distinct parts – a one-day Cyber Strategy Conference (keynote talks, panel sessions, high-level invited audience); a one day Cyber Strategy Wargame; and a three-day Winter School on ‘Cyber Conflict - Strategy and Policy’ - 3 days of academic-led education focused on cyber strategy and policy.
